11In the beginning2God3created the heavens and the earth.
2
The earth was [a]4formless and void, and 5darkness was over the [b]surface of the deep, and 6the Spirit of God7was [c]movingover the [d]surface of the waters.
3
Then 8Godsaid, "Let there be light "; and there was light.
4
Godsaw that the light was 9good; and God10separated the light from the darkness.
5
11Godcalled the lightday, and the darkness He callednight. And 12there was evening and there was morning, oneday.
6
Then Godsaid, "Let there be [e]an 13expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters."
7
Godmade the [f]expanse, and separated14the waterswhich were below* the [g]expanse from the waters15which were above* the [h]expanse; and it was so.
8
Godcalled the [i]expanseheaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a secondday.
9
Then Godsaid, "16Let the watersbelow* the heavens be gathered into oneplace, and let 17the drylandappear "; and it was so.
10
Godcalled the drylandearth, and the 18gathering of the waters He calledseas; and Godsaw that it was good.
11
Then Godsaid, "Let the earthsprout[j]19vegetation: [k]plantsyieldingseed, and fruittrees on the earthbearingfruit after [l]their kind[m]with seed in them"; and it was so.
12
The earthbroughtforth[n]vegetation, [o]plantsyieldingseed after [p]their kind, and treesbearingfruit[q]with seed in them, after [r]their kind; and Godsaw that it was good.
13
There was evening and there was morning, a thirdday.
14
Then Godsaid, "Let there be [s]20lights in the [t]21expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for 22signs and for 23seasons and for days and years;
15
and let them be for [u]lights in the [v]expanse of the heavens to givelight on the earth "; and it was so.
16
Godmade the two[w]greatlights, the 24greater[x]light[y]to govern the day, and the lesser[z]light[aa]to govern the night; He made 25the stars also.
17
26Godplaced them in the [ab]expanse of the heavens to givelight on the earth,
18
and [ac]to 27govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and Godsaw that it was good.
19
There was evening and there was morning, a fourthday.
20
Then Godsaid, "Let the waters[ad]teem with swarms of livingcreatures, and let birdsflyabove the earth[ae]in the open[af]expanse of the heavens."
21
Godcreated28the greatseamonsters and everylivingcreature that moves, with which the watersswarmed after their kind, and everywingedbird after its kind; and Godsaw that it was good.
22
Godblessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birdsmultiply on the earth."
23
There was evening and there was morning, a fifthday.
24
29Then Godsaid, "Let the earthbringforthlivingcreatures after [ag]their kind: cattle and creepingthings and beasts of the earth after [ah]their kind "; and it was so.
25
Godmade the 30beasts of the earth after [ai]their kind, and the cattle after [aj]their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and Godsaw that it was good.
26
Then Godsaid, "Let 31Us make32man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them 33rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the [ak]sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over everycreepingthing that creeps on the earth."
27
Godcreatedman34in His own image, in the image of God He created him; 35male and female He created them.
28
Godblessed them; and Godsaid to them, "36Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the [al]sky and over everylivingthing that [am]moves on the earth."
29
Then Godsaid, "Behold, 37I have given you everyplantyieldingseed that is on the [an]surface of all the earth, and everytree[ao]which has fruityieldingseed; it shall be food for you;
30
and 38to everybeast of the earth and to everybird of the [ap]sky and to everything that [aq]moves on the earth[ar]which has life, I have given everygreenplant for food "; and it was so.
31
Godsawall that He had made, and behold, it was very39good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixthday.
