30
So they said to Him, "1Whatthen do You do for a 2sign, so that we may see, and believe You? Whatwork do You perform?
31
"3Our fathersate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, '4HE GAVE THEM BREAD OUT OF HEAVEN TO EAT.' "
32
Jesusthensaid to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the truebread out of heaven.
33
"For the bread of God is that which 5comesdown out of heaven, and giveslife to the world."
34
Then they said to Him, "Lord, always6give us thisbread."
35
Jesussaid to them, "7I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me 8will never*thirst.
36
"But 9I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe.
37
"10All that the Fathergives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly* not cast out.
38
"For 11I have comedown from heaven, 12not to do My ownwill, but 13the will of Him who 14sent Me.
39
"This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of 15all that He has given Me I 16losenothing, but 17raise it up on the lastday.
40
"For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who 18beholds the Son and 19believes in Him will haveeternallife, and I Myself will 20raise him up on the lastday."
Words to the Jews
4121Therefore the Jews were grumblingabout Him, because He said, "I am the bread that 22camedown out of heaven."
42
They were saying, "23Is not thisJesus, the son of Joseph, whosefather and mother24we know? How does He nowsay, '25I have comedown out of heaven '?"
43
Jesusanswered and said to them, "Do not grumbleamongyourselves.
44
"Noonecancome to Me unless* the Father who sent Me 26draws him; and I will 27raise him up on the lastday.
45
"It is written28in the prophets, '29AND THEY SHALL ALL BE 30TAUGHT OF GOD.' Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me.
46
"31Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father.
47
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes32haseternallife.
49
"34Your fathersate the manna in the wilderness, and they died.
50
"This is the bread which 35comesdown out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and 36not die.
51
"37I am the livingbread that 38camedown out of heaven; ifanyoneeats of thisbread, 39he will liveforever; and the breadalsowhich I will give40for the life of the world is 41My flesh."
52
42Then the Jews43began to argue with oneanother, saying, "Howcanthismangive us His flesh to eat?"
53
SoJesussaid to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless* you eat the flesh of 44the Son of Man and drink His blood, you havenolife in yourselves.
54
"He who eats My flesh and drinks My bloodhaseternallife, and I will 45raise him up on the lastday.
55
"For My flesh is truefood, and My blood is truedrink.
56
"He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood46abides in Me, and I in him.
57
"As the 47livingFather48sent Me, and I livebecause of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will livebecause of Me.
58
"This is the breadwhich49camedown out of heaven; not as 50the fathersate and died; he who eatsthisbread51will liveforever."
