Genesis 35:12

12 The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and I will give the land to your offspring after you."

Genesis 35:12 Meaning and Commentary

Genesis 35:12

And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee will I
give it
Meaning the land of Canaan, which, as he had by promise given it to his grandfather, and father, so he would give it to him; thus renewing the grant of it for his comfort, and the encouragement of his faith, when he had been in danger of being destroyed by the inhabitants of it, and was obliged to remove from one part of it to another: and to thy seed after thee will I give the land;
and not only make a grant of it to them, but put them into the possession of it, as in process of time he did.

Genesis 35:12 In-Context

10 God said to him, "Your name is Jacob; no longer shall you be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name." So he was called Israel.
11 God said to him, "I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall spring from you.
12 The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac I will give to you, and I will give the land to your offspring after you."
13 Then God went up from him at the place where he had spoken with him.
14 Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he had spoken with him, a pillar of stone; and he poured out a drink offering on it, and poured oil on it.
