Isaiah 24:22

22 They will be gathered together like prisoners in a pit; they will be shut up in a prison, and after many days they will be punished.

Isaiah 24:22 Meaning and Commentary

Isaiah 24:22

And they shall be gathered together
First to the battle of the great day of God Almighty at Armageddon, ( Revelation 16:14 Revelation 16:16 ) ( Revelation 19:19 ) and there being overcome and taken, they shall be gathered together [as] prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the
prison;
in the prison or the grave, and in hell; as captives are, till such time as something is determined and ordered what to be done with them: and after many days shall they be visited;
or punished, that is, after the thousand years are ended, when the wicked dead will be all raised; after the battle of Gog and Magog, when Satan, the beast, and false prophet, and all their adherents, shall be cast into the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, ( Revelation 19:20 Revelation 19:21 ) ( Revelation 20:5 Revelation 20:8-10 ) .

Isaiah 24:22 In-Context

20 The earth staggers like a drunkard, it sways like a hut; its transgression lies heavy upon it, and it falls, and will not rise again.
21 On that day the Lord will punish the host of heaven in heaven, and on earth the kings of the earth.
22 They will be gathered together like prisoners in a pit; they will be shut up in a prison, and after many days they will be punished.
23 Then the moon will be abashed, and the sun ashamed; for the Lord of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and before his elders he will manifest his glory.
