Mark 13:16 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 13:16

And let him that is in the field
At work, in any sort of business there,

not turn back again:
either to his own house, or rather to that part of the field where he laid down his clothes:

for to take up his garment;
but let him flee without it, or otherwise he would be in great danger; (See Gill on Matthew 24:18).

Mark 13:16 In-Context

14 "But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then those in Judea must flee to the mountains;
15 the one on the housetop must not go down or enter the house to take anything away;
16 the one in the field must not turn back to get a coat.
17 Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing infants in those days!
18 Pray that it may not be in winter.
