And as they sat and did eat
Or "as they lay along"; for such was their posture at the eating of the passover; (See Gill on Matthew 26:20):

Jesus said, verily I say unto you, one of you which eateth with me

19 They began to be distressed and to say to him one after another, "Surely, not I?"
20 He said to them, "It is one of the twelve, one who is dipping bread into the bowl with me.
