1Consider it alljoy, my brethren, when you encounter2various[a]trials,
3
knowing that 3the testing of your 4faithproduces[b]5endurance.
4
And let [c]6endurancehave its perfect[d]result, so that you may be [e]7perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5
But ifany of you 8lackswisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to allgenerously and [f]withoutreproach, and 9it will be given to him.
6
But he must 10ask in faith11withoutanydoubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, 12driven and tossed by the wind.
7
For that man ought not to expect that he will receiveanything from the Lord,
8
being a [g]13double-mindedman, 14unstable in all his ways.
9
15But the [h]brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his highposition;
10
and the richman is to glory in his humiliation, because16like[i]floweringgrass he will passaway.
11
For the sunrises with [j]17a scorchingwind and 18withers the grass; and its flowerfallsoff and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; sotoo the richman in the midst of his pursuits will fadeaway.
12
19Blessed is a manwhoperseveres under trial; for once he has [k]beenapproved, he will receive20the crown of lifewhich the Lord 21has promised to those who 22love Him.
