"But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I goaway; for if I do not goaway, the 12Helper will not come to you; but if I go, 13I will send Him to you.

"And He, when He comes, will convict the worldconcerningsin and righteousness and judgment;

concerningsin, 14because they do not believe in Me;

and concerning15righteousness, because16I go to the Father and you nolongersee Me;

17and concerningjudgment, because the ruler of thisworld has been judged.

"I havemanymorethings to say to you, but you cannot*bear them now.

"But when He, 18the Spirit of truth, comes, He will 19guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His owninitiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.

"He will 20glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.

"21Allthings that the Fatherhas are Mine; therefore* I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you.

16"22A littlewhile, and 23you will nolongersee Me; and again a littlewhile, and 24you will see Me."

Some of His disciplesthensaid to oneanother, "What is thisthing He is telling us, '25A littlewhile, and you will not see Me; and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me'; and, 'because26I go to the Father '?"

So they were saying, "What is this that He says, 'A littlewhile '? We do not knowwhat He is talking about."

27Jesusknew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, "Are you deliberatingtogether*aboutthis, that I said, 'A littlewhile, and you will not see Me, and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me'?

"Truly, truly, I say to you, that 28you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but 29your grief will be turned into joy.

"30Whenever a woman is in labor she haspain, because her hour has come; but when she givesbirth to the child, she nolongerremembers the anguishbecause of the joy that a child has been born into the world.

"Therefore31you toohavegriefnow; but 32I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and noone will take your joyaway from you.
Prayer Promises
23"33In that day34you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, 35if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.

"36Untilnow you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your 37joy may be madefull.

His disciplessaid, "Lo, now You are speakingplainly and are not using47a figure of speech.
